The Dormant Gesture, 2019
Gesture is a quiet, powerful presence. It might be the emotive quality of a subtle bodily movement. It might be the way a painter moves her hand across a canvas and the brush stroke that it records. Each is expression revealed in its clearest form. Through a distillation of visual elements I can uncover, empower and suspend the purity of the gesture. By embracing abstraction and choosing to limit visible elements I lay bare the lyrical quality of each work and bring these gestures to light. What remains is an open-ended invitation to simply settle into a moment and feel.
