The Proximity Project
a long term photographic work illuminating the intimate experiences of being human
My interests lie in the embodiment of seed concepts inspired by the human experience. Drawing on my background as a dancer, ideas are developed by working closely with other movement artists.
The meaning and articulation of the work unfolds in the field through a process of improvised movement and intuitive capture.
September, 2021
The first work in The Proximity Project is Imminent Proximity. This series addresses the implications of the global pandemic on the human psyche and was created midway though the Covid-19 pandemic. During the summer of 2021, I worked closely with five dancers: Hendri Walujo, Maia Veague, Jason Franklin, Leah Crosby and Jessica Jobaris. Through raw and spontaneous interactions we worked through the psychological, emotional and physical realities of our changed relationships.
